An Update to Our Supporters
One year ago, Novant Health and leaders from the Town of Holly Springs set out to change the landscape of healthcare services for the residents of southern Wake County. The proposed Holly Springs Hospital would have brought 24/7 access to emergency, maternity, diagnostic and surgical services where it is needed mostclose to home. We received an amazing response from the community, with over 15,000 residents, business leaders and elected officials expressing their support for the new hospital through letters, phone calls and emails.
In February of this year, the State ruled against our proposal and awarded the licensed beds and operating rooms to support a new women's hospital in northern Wake County and orthopaedic surgery center in Raleigh. Disagreeing with the State's decision, we immediately appealed in hopes that the needs and voices of southern Wake County residents would be heard. Given the complexity of the case, and the position of the State, it became clear after six months into the process that a ruling in our favor would be nearly impossible to obtain.
We are very thankful to the residents of Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and surrounding communities for welcoming Novant Health's proposal and for standing behind us over the past year in our efforts to bring quality care closer to home. We are very disappointed that the Holly Springs Hospital project did not become a reality in light of the tremendous need and overwhelming community support. Novant Health believes that individuals deserve convenient access to advanced health services, and we are currently evaluating future opportunities to deliver our nationally recognized care to you and your family. We will keep you posted on any future developments.
Sincerely,
